The fallout from CAF's decision to strip Senegal of the 2025 AFCON title rumbles on but the Lions of Teranga's performances at the tournament augur well for their prospects in North America. Their run in Morocco was based on a settled line-up and the familiarity within their squad can only be a positive. Pape Thiaw's side boasts defensive know-how and a settled midfield that allowes a skilful frontline led by Sadio Mane to flourish. Senegal are third in the betting to win Group I but they boast plentiful tournament experience and also have the advantage of facing Iraq in their final group game. Second place in the group would result in a favourable last-32 tie and Brazil are their only potential last-16 foe to be feared.
