Leeds fans will not remember Panama head coach Thomas Christiansen too fondly but Panama’s supporters idolise the former Spain striker. Christiansen is happy to let his side defend deep in a 5-4-1 before springing counter-attacks and that is exactly how they finished third at the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup. It will be much harder to make an impact at the World Cup, though, and a squad comprised of players from the MLS, Championship and everywhere in between will be looking at their opening match against Ghana as an opportunity given England and Croatia should prove far too strong.
